GLSC is a corporate charter company which also operates educational programs and day sails. It owns and operates the tall ships Challenge, a 96 foot, three-masted schooner, Kajama, a 165' three-masted gaff-rigged schooner and Obsession III a 78’Motor Yacht. It also operates the Empress of Canada. The following positions are available: Assistant Cruise Coordinator (Office) Food and Beverage Supervisors Cooks Dock Staff Bartender/Server (Full time summer) Responsibilities and Duties: • Daily set up and break down procedures • Cocktail service and bussing onboard • Maintaining inventory • Table service during dinner • Bottle service on certain cruise • Providing excellent customer service Qualifications: • Strong people skills and able to work in a team • Smart serve certified • Efficient cash handling • Professional appearance • Some prior knowledge of drinks including basic cocktails Deckhands (Full time summer) Responsibilities and Duties: • Maintenance of Traditional Sailing Ships under the captains supervision • Help caterers set up and tear down food stations • Sailing the ship during day and evening functions • Assist in teaching during May/June to Sail through Time Education program • Ensuring excellent customer service and product quality is always provided. Qualifications: • Strong people skills and able to work in a team atmosphere • Sailing experience is a plus • Food and beverage experience needed • Keen interest in sailing Photographer (Full time summer) Responsibilities and duties: • Take photos of guests boarding our public day tours • Welcome and greet guests, answer questions regarding the vessel and the tour. • Print photos below deck and sell pictures to the guests on board • Assist other crew members with food service, cruise preparation if there is time Qualifications: • Keen interest and prior photography experience (school or practical) • Good customer service skills • Outgoing confident personality • Comfortable in talking to groups of people. • Some sales experience a plus • Must enjoying working outdoors Captain (Full time summer) Responsibilities and Duties: • Vessel Handling • Crew management • Overseeing all sailing aspects of the vessel. • Vessel maintenance • Delivering high levels of customer service • Ensuring passenger safety and experience is the number 1 priority Qualifications: • Captain ticket over 60 tons • Traditional sail rig experience • Positive attitude • Experience dealing with the general public • Practical understanding of vessel systems. First Mate (Full time summer) Responsibilities and Duties: • Vessels handling • Crew Management • Vessel Maintenance • Delivering high levels of customer service • Assisting the captain • Day to day ship operations Qualifications: • Mate over 60 tons certificate • Traditional Rig sailing experience • Practical understanding of vessel systems • Positive attitude • Experience dealing with the general public Engineer / Deckhand (Full time summer) • Responsibilities and Duties: • Responsibly for regular engine checks throughout each cruise • Maintaining a clean and safe engine room • Maintaining a traditional sailing ship under captains supervision • Sailing the ships during day and night charters. • Assisting caterers with set up and tear down duties. • Maintaining a clean vessel • Delivery of excellent customer service Qualifications: • SVMO license (Small Vessel Machinery Operator) • Strong people skills and able to work under pressure • Sailing experience is a plus |
