Both the Kajama and the Challenge have open deck spaces which allow room for hands-on and classroom lectures in relative comfort. The ships meet all Canadian Coast Guard requirements for safety equipment and are insured to the highest degree.

Each has life platforms and life jackets, a lifeboat and the most up-to-date fire detection, prevention and extinguishing equipment. Each ship is operated by a skilled crew of professional sailors.
