Corporate Team Building

Great Lakes Schooner Company is extremely experienced in assisting you plan a successful corporate team building event, offsite sales meeting adventure or employee appreciation day. We have a variety of programs for this kind of event and would be glad to custom tailor one for your needs. Below is a description of corporate team building event aboard the historic schooner Kajama.

Our programs would be a wonderful team building offsite experience for your corporate event. They are interactive, learn-while-doing experience and are appropriate for people looking to try something new and partake in hands on sailing.

We would divide your group into different teams and teach them different aspects of sailing a tall ship. Your group would be able to participate in all aspects of sailing the vessel:

• Navigating, steering the vessel
• Learn about the traditional life of a sailor
• Fire a traditional ships canon
• Raising and dousing the sails
• Handling Lines
• Singing Sea Shanties
• Manning the foredeck

We will also simulate a man over board exercise whereby your teams, working together, will have to retrieve an object from the water. Thus causing your teams to work closely together in a situation they wouldn’t normally find themselves in.

In addition to this experience you will also be enjoying:

• Breath taking views of Toronto Skyline,
• Buffet style meal, chosen from an wide menu selection,
• Two large LCD TV’s (Challenge only) to watch any company material you have,
• Fully licensed bar serving alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages.

The two tall ships available include the 165 ft gaff rigged schooner Kajama, which was featured on CBS’s The Amazing Race, and holds up to 225 people. The smaller vessel Challenge is 96ft and holds a maximum of 70 people. They each act as the perfect setting for ensuring a positive team building experience. They are both conveniently located in Toronto’s Harbour front, just a short walk from the main downtown financial district.

If the objective of the event is to encourage your staff to work better as a team, teach them about sailing or just to socialize and enhance friendships, we are able to accommodate.

(Challenge)

Photographs of your teams participating in the event provide excellent souvenirs. We can photograph the event on board and provide you with copies of the pictures or a disk shortly after the event has taken place. They are also an excellent way of documenting the event for your own publications.
